INFO BOLT: Eat this, says Burt Reynolds

The #3 Chick-Fil-A combo meal: it's the closest approximation Mainstream Mass Quantity Food can get to the hurried lunch order Buford T. Justice makes at a diner in a little Burt Reynolds tribute documentary called Smokey & The Bandit.

The scene: 

Reynolds sits at the counter of a truck stop diner, waiting for his to-go order. 

How much I owe you m'am? he asks.

Dollarn AHalf, she answers.

[Burt slides her some cash - likely a $100 bill.]

Keep the change, he says. 


His nemesis, played by the eternal Jackie Gleason, strides into the joint and belches out what he wants to eat:

"Lemme have a diablo sammich, a Dr. Peppah and make it fast I'm in a got-d@m hurry!!" 

It doesn't hurt that Gleason punctuates the scene by muttering "Nice Ass."

Finally! Burt takes on the written word

Burt's writing his life story and we can't wait to hear all the details. 







Next year G.P. Putnam's Sons will publish the Burt Reynolds memoir But Enough About Me. 

The forward will be written by Burt's former co-star Jon Voight. Not that he needs help, but Jon Winokur will be co-writing the book with Reynolds.

The Fictional Automobile World Cup is over

The Bandit now sits at its rightful place on top of the heap, thanks to the Fictional Automobile World Cup. The website created a March Madness-style competition that narrowed down the greatest cars from film and TV. 

The Bandit was named the final champion - the car won with 52% of the vote, over the Delorean from BACK TO THE FUTURE.

The Bandit's path to the championship ran through the Landspeeder from Star Wars, James Bond's Aston Martin and the Bluesmobile from Blues Brothers.

The Delorean had to defeat the Truckster from Vacation, Herbie the Love Bugg, KITT and The Batmobile.

Burt in Brooklyn?

BREAKING NEWS: Word out of New York indicates the possible emergence of a new Burt Reynolds Society in The Big Apple.
Our un-named source claims that The Illustrious Potentate of the original society has signed off on the fledgling organization.
Our attempts to reach Burt Reynolds at this time were unsuccessful.


This isn't The Big Apple's first alliance with Dr. Reynolds. H.G. Pennypacker's early designs for the Brooklyn Bridge were partly inspired by the power and freedom inherently found in Burton Reynolds' iconic mustache.

"My glorious design for The Bridge will uses two mustache towers to support the enormous weight of the structure. Those two mustaches will literally, give foundation for all manner of animal, cart and human foot traffic to pass overhead," Pennypacker remarked.

More Brooklyn-Reynolds Trivia:
Pennypacker's design also gave birth to the phrase "mustache ride." Many immigrant workers who passed over the bridge everyday sang a traveling song called "Takin' The Mustache Ride to the ShipYarde" due to the shape of the bridge.
Many years later, the estate of one Lawrence Westbrook claimed that their great-grandfather was the original author of the tune, resulting in a $3.1 million payout by the state of New York.
The state's travel commission had previously (and illegally) used the melody for the song during a tourism commercial starring singer Eddie Money.

Burt is teaching a master acting class at the Burt Reynolds & Friends Museum in Jupiter, FL.

R.I.P. Dom Deluise

Actor and comedian Dom Deluise died last week in his sleep at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, CA of unknown causes.
He was 75 years old.

Burt Reynolds reacts:

"Dom always made you feel better when he was around and there will never be another like him, … I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. I will miss him very much.”
